At the BC Centre for Vulvar Health, we are deeply committed to training the next generation of physicians in compassionate, evidence-based care for patients with chronic vulvovaginal conditions and sexual health concerns.

We are proud to offer North America’s only mandatory residency rotation in vulvar disease and sexual medicine for OB/GYN residents. As leaders in residency education at the University of British Columbia, we believe this dedicated clinical experience is essential. The conditions we treat—ranging from chronic vulvar disorders and cancerous lesions to sexual pain and dysfunction—are often under-recognized, under-treated, and poorly understood. During their rotation, residents work closely with our multidisciplinary team (gynaecologists, physiotherapists and psychologists) in ambulatory clinics. They also participate in gender-affirming surgical care in collaboration with the Department of Urology. Additional opportunities include exposure to vulvar dermatologists and specialized wound care through our partnerships with dermatology and plastic surgery. This comprehensive and immersive experience equips our residents with a strong foundation to deliver sensitive, evidence-informed care throughout their careers.

We have limited availability for elective residents from outside the UBC Department of OB/GYN. Please send inquiries to BCCVH@vch.ca

Clinical Fellowship
Psychology Residents
As part of our commitment to interdisciplinary education, the BC Centre for Vulvar Health is proud to partner with the Vancouver Coastal Health Clinical Psychology Residency Program. We offer doctoral-level psychology residents a unique opportunity to complete a six-month to one-year rotation within our Centre. This is Canada’s only dedicated sex therapy preceptorship, providing rare and meaningful training in an area of psychology that remains profoundly underserved. Residents will gain rich clinical experience in sexual health and psychosexual therapy within a multidisciplinary team, helping to address critical gaps in care.
